NICOLAS GODIN'S STUDIO, A BALANCE BETWEEN TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE AND SIMPLICITY.

Owner: NCLS
Contractor: Red House Acoustics
General contractor: CreVaDan Design
Surface area: 100 m²
Budget: confidential Location: Paris

It was in 2018 that Nicolas Godin (Air) commissioned us to transform a former dance studio in the sixth arrondissement into a music studio.

In the heart of Paris, we proposed a complete acoustic and isophonic solution to isolate this creative space from the neighbors on the upper level, while retaining its attractive dimensions, despite the low initial ceiling height.

Aesthetically, we drew our references from the Mad Men series, the design of Dieter Rams and the architecture of Mies Van Der Rohe, while making the link with his old studio, which Nicolas adored.

Our answer: a perfectly insulated studio, a place with a simple, harmonious design, where the woodwork in oak is enhanced by black and cream tones.

The little extra: designing a storage space for Nicolas's guitar collection. It's the dressing room we all dream of.

"Coming from the world of the home studio, I asked Lucas and Redhouse to design a space for me with all the qualities of a professional recording studio, but without losing the spirit of freshness that marked the start of my career.
Being an artist first and foremost, I wanted the creative aspect of my work not to take second place to the comfort and technical qualities that I also wanted to have at my disposal, and which are specific to the great studios in which I've been lucky enough to work for 30 years.
As a result, I still enjoy spending my days in a place that can just as easily accommodate a great mixer, a renowned pianist, a band, but also an up-and-coming artist that I hope will never cease to be.
All this in a setting designed with exquisite taste... bravo guys!!!! "
