Custom-made music studio furniture is much more than just a functional element: it structures the space, movement, and listening.

At Red House, each studio desk is designed as a central piece, serving the purpose of musical creation.

We design home studio offices and furniture for professional studios, custom-made to blend naturally with the architecture, acoustics, and uses of the space.

Design, ergonomics, and high-end manufacturing come together to create durable, precise, and inspiring furniture that is equally suited to a demanding home studio or a professional control room.

WHY CHOOSE A CUSTOM-MADE STUDIO DESK INSTEAD OF STANDARD FURNITURE?

Ergonomics designed for music creation

With ergonomics designed for music creation in mind, each piece of furniture is designed to facilitate the transition between composition, recording, and mixing, while optimizing posture and workflow. The height of the surfaces, their angle, and the layout of the equipment follow a natural logic: everything is within reach, without constraints or distractions.

Furniture adapted to the studio's acoustics

Furniture adapted to the studio's acoustics plays an essential role in listening quality and working comfort. Each element is designed to respect the room's sound balance: choice of absorbent or diffusing materials, non-reverberant shapes, thoughtful positioning of surfaces. The furniture blends into the space without interfering with sound diffusion.

Seamless integration of audio equipment

At Red House, there is no compromise between technology and design. Each piece of furniture is designed to accommodate essential equipment in a coherent and discreet manner. Custom-made cable passages, supports, and cutouts ensure a clean and functional installation, allowing the workstation to breathe while showcasing the equipment.

RED HOUSE EXPERTISE IN MUSIC STUDIO FURNITURE

Unique creations, a far cry from standardized furniture

By offering unique designs that are a far cry from standardized furniture, we create a studio that truly reflects your way of working and your sound identity. Each desk, each storage module, each monitor or peripheral stand is designed based on your space and your habits rather than adapted to a generic model. Practical details are customized to provide a coherent whole.

A comprehensive approach: furniture, acoustics, and usage

Each studio office is designed as a true ecosystem dedicated to sound work. The furniture design, choice of materials, and layout of the room are all carefully considered in relation to acoustics and everyday activities: composing, recording, mixing, training, or welcoming clients.

Studio offices designed by sound experts

Studio desks designed by sound experts promise furniture crafted with professional precision. Every detail stems from a deep understanding of the needs of sound engineers, producers, and musicians: ergonomics, acoustics, equipment integration, and material quality. These custom creations, the result of craftsmanship combined with technical expertise, become true production tools.

HOW DOES RED HOUSE DESIGN A CUSTOM HOME STUDIO OFFICE?

Here are the different stages involved in designing a custom office by Red House:

1. Analysis of your space and your needs

Analyzing your space and your needs is the first step in any custom studio office project. It begins with a precise survey of the room and an assessment of the existing acoustics and the ideal listening position. Next comes an assessment of your equipment and how you use it: type of production, number of users, length of sessions, need to accommodate clients or musicians. This comprehensive understanding allows us to design a coherent workstation.

2. Design and validation of plans

The design and approval of plans is a key step before any studio furniture is manufactured. An initial set of plans is drawn up based on your needs and your space. These plans are then refined in consultation with you: adjustments to dimensions, heights, storage, cable routing, etc. Once the plans have been approved, they serve as a reliable basis for manufacturing in the workshop.

3. Handcrafted studio furniture manufacturing

The artisanal manufacture of studio furniture guarantees a level of care and precision that no industrial furniture can offer. Each desk, rack, or module is designed, assembled, and finished by hand, with particular attention paid to functional details. The choice of wood species, finishes, and hardware is based on the desired aesthetic, but also on the constraints of intensive use specific to studios.

4. High-end finishes and equipment integration

High-end finishes and integrated equipment are at the heart of truly professional studio furniture. Interfaces, racks, screens, keyboards, and cabling systems fit seamlessly and discreetly into the office, thanks to custom cutouts, technical hatches, and adapted supports. The result is a streamlined workstation where the perceived quality of the furniture enhances the studio's image and comfort.

5. Delivery, installation, and setup in your studio

The furniture is delivered on the agreed date, and installation is offered as an option by the Red House teams.

The furniture is then assembled directly in its final location, in accordance with the layout plan and the technical constraints of the space (power outlets, cable routing, traffic areas). Each desk, rack, or module is then adjusted, aligned, and stabilized, with particular attention paid to the listening position, access to equipment, and the clarity of the space.

Once the work is complete, your studio will be up and running, clean, and ready to host your first sessions.

MUSIC STUDIO FURNITURE AND DESKS: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Choose a sturdy desk that is 120-160 cm wide, 70-110 cm deep, and has a sliding keyboard tray to accommodate interfaces, monitors, and controllers without clutter. Opt for custom-made or dedicated models such as those from Argosy or Omnirax for better stability and optimal acoustic integration. Adapt it to your body type and setup to avoid fatigue during long sessions.

  • The ideal height for a piece of furniture with a built-in keyboard is 78 cm, so that your forearms are horizontal and your screens are at eye level. Pair it with an adjustable chair to maintain a neutral posture and reduce tension in your back and shoulders.

  • A studio desk offers more space for music production equipment (racks, speakers, controllers), with cable management, sliding trays, and dedicated supports, unlike a traditional desk, which is limited to a computer and documents. It also incorporates acoustic (stability, non-resonance) and ergonomic considerations for extended sessions, making the space more functional and professional.

  • Essentials include a stable desk, an adjustable ergonomic chair, speaker stands for an equilateral listening triangle, a rack for interfaces/outboard gear, and storage for cables/accessories. Add a monitor arm and an anti-fatigue lamp to streamline your workflow and stay healthy during long productions.

  • A studio office can affect acoustics if its design is not suitable (reflections, resonance, etc.). Careful design minimizes these effects through recesses or the addition of absorbent materials in the right places.

  • The furniture is designed with acoustics in mind right from the design stage: choice of materials, appropriate shapes, surface angles, etc. Our expertise allows us to harmonize the furniture with the overall acoustic treatment.

  • Red House operates throughout France, providing custom studio furniture solutions from design to delivery. Our Engineering division offers layouts tailored to all types of studios, whether existing or planned.
