STUDIO THE JOINERY

A BRIGHT STUDIO WITH LARGE ROOMS CLOSE TO PARIS

Client: Studio La Menuiserie
Project manager: Red House Acoustics
Location: Noisy-le-Sec (93)

Built in a former carpentry workshop in Noisy-le-Sec, 10 minutes from Paris, the studio is designed around spaces that benefit from natural light, as well as a direct view between the different booths.

A bubble of silence, carved from solid oak, cumaru, and beech, each space is designed to enhance the natural sound of the instruments. Studio La Menuiserie benefits from a beautiful stage with adjustable acoustics and high ceilings conducive to natural reverberation.

Entirely wood-paneled, with plenty of air, the space allows instruments to express their natural resonance. Versatile, the acoustic response of the stage is adjustable, gradually shifting from delicate reverberation to a more muted volume by activating the four large absorbent/diffusing panels carved into the walls.

On stage, musicians have a direct view of the drum booth, located upstairs, as well as the control room. During film music or voice-over recordings, a screen allows video feedback to be broadcast to the performer.

The control room and its vintage NEVE 8232 console are located at the heart of La Menuiserie studio and offer a direct view of the set. Fully treated for neutral acoustics, it is equipped with ADAM S3V stereo and ADAM P11a/A7x 5.1 multichannel monitoring.

Designed for mixing to picture, the control room allows for video projection of films.

The La Menuiserie studio has two separate booths:

  • A drum booth with more muted, precise, and lively acoustics, ideal for recording percussion, guitars, or vocals. A large bay window offers a wide view of the stage and a direct view of the other musicians.

  • A small amplifier booth that isolates guitar or bass amplifiers from other acoustic instruments as needed.
