IN AN EARLY 19TH-CENTURY PARISIAN BUILDING, PERFECTLY SOUNDPROOFING A ROOM CAN PROVE TO BE A FORMIDABLE CHALLENGE.

Project manager: Red House Acoustics
General contractor: CreVaDan Design
Surface area: 15 m²
Location: Paris, 18th arrondissement

In these cramped spaces, with multiple materials intertwined, characteristic of early 19th-century Parisian buildings, there are many pitfalls when it comes to making a room both impervious to outside noise and completely soundproof so that no sound can escape.

The plan was to create a home production studio in one room of an apartment. To achieve this, the sound insulation and acoustic treatment study played a key role and helped to highlight some very specific requirements.

Nothing was left to chance, and a clever combination of empirical observation and objective scientific data made it possible to identify effective, long-lasting solutions that would both completely seal the room from outside disturbances and create a warm, pleasant sound inside.
